The Anderson County Exemplary Student Program

A.C.E.S.

The ACES Program, (Anderson County Exemplary Student), is a program for high school students at Clinton High School and Anderson County High School.

The goal of the ACES program is to challenge students to attain higher levels of academic achievement by taking more science, math and English credits than they may have otherwise considered and to strive to achieve a higher ACT score. The program also encourages students to develop into good workers as they become adults through the 95% attendance requirement. Students are also required to complete 20 community service hours each year of their high school career in an attempt to teach them how to reach out to others in the community and foster community leadership as they become young adults.

The program was instituted in 2004, with the class of 2007 receiving the first scholarships. From 2007 through the class of 2012 there have been 108 students from Clinton High School and 101 students from Anderson High School who have been recipients of $500 one-time scholarships. An average of 35 students per year have benefitted from this program with an average of $17,500 total awarded each year. The program is funded by donations from area businesses, industry and individuals.

Incoming freshmen make a commitment to the ACES Program by completing a commitment form provided to them by their guidance counselor. Guidance counselors will also provide the students with the specific requirements of the program for consideration of a scholarship.

Students are required to complete 20 hours of community service per year. This must be documented on a community service form by downloading on this website or from the guidance counselor. Forms may be turned into the guidance office or the A.C.E.S. program coordinator.
